Ask what a Shopify store costs and the internet will give you a range from a few hundred pounds to tens of thousands. That is accurate and useless. So here is what a store costs with us, what moves the price, and which line items quotes tend to leave out — so you can compare any proposal, including ours.
Our packages — the same prices as our pricing page
- Launch — from £3,500: a customised Dawn-based theme, eight product templates and five collections, payments, shipping, basic SEO and GA4, and 30 days of post-launch support. Live in 4–6 weeks.
- Scale — from £8,500: a fully custom design, ERP, CRM or order-management integration, subscriptions and bundles, server-side tracking, and 90 days of support.
- Platform — from £15,000: Shopify Plus, several markets or brands, custom apps, and B2B and retail under one roof with a dedicated tech lead.
We quote a fixed price against a written scope rather than billing hours. That does not mean every store costs the starting price; it means you know the price before the work starts.
What actually moves the price
- Design depth: adapting a theme to your brand is a different job from designing custom sections and components from scratch.
- Integrations: each connection to stock, ERP, accounting or a marketplace tool brings mapping, testing and error handling.
- Data: clean product data imports quickly. Writing copy, restructuring variants or editing photography is separate work.
Selling into several countries is the fourth factor: languages, currencies, tax and shipping per market each add configuration and testing.
One-off costs that quotes often leave out
- Content migration from an existing store: £580 per 100 products
- An extra language with proofreading: £1,100 per language
- SEO-ready product copy: £32 per product
- Invoicing or accounting integration: £950
- Studio product photography: £1,450 for 20 products
Monthly running costs after launch
- Shopify plan: on Shopify's UK price list, Basic is £25 a month on monthly billing (£19 billed yearly), Grow £65 and Advanced £344; Plus starts at £1,800.
- Payment processing: Shopify Payments online card rates in the UK run from 2% + 25p on Basic to 1.5% + 25p on Advanced. Third-party gateways add a Shopify transaction fee on top.
- App subscriptions for reviews, email, shipping, consent and similar — the line that grows quietly when nobody owns it.
- Optional ongoing support — ours starts at £1,100 a month for Care.
DIY, freelancer or agency?
You can set up a simple store on a standard theme yourself; Shopify is built for it. What usually goes wrong is the invisible part: tax settings, consent and tracking, shipping rules, legal pages, and redirects from an old site.
An experienced freelancer is a good choice for a clearly bounded scope. When design, development, data migration, tracking and compliance all arrive together, a team with fixed responsibilities tends to save time, because nothing sits between two people.
How to compare three quotes
- Who owns the Shopify account and theme code after launch?
- Are payments, shipping, tax and legal pages included and tested?
- Is analytics with Consent Mode v2 included and verified before launch?
- Is there a redirect map for the old site's URLs?
- How many design revision rounds are included?
- What does a change cost after the project starts, and who decides it is a change?
- How long, and how much, support comes after launch?
A quote that answers yes to all of these is rarely the cheapest. One that answers no to several rarely stays the cheapest.
