I assumed our headless migration would take months. With Hydrogen they did it in six weeks and mobile performance tripled.
Magento to Shopify migration: why Shopindev?
Large catalogue import
Products, configurable and simple, with attributes and category structure mapped into Shopify's model.
Attribute and option mapping
Magento's attribute sets do not map one-to-one onto Shopify options. We agree the structure before importing, not during.
Customer and order history
Customer accounts and order records imported, with the fields that carry over agreed in writing.
URL mapping and 301s
Magento's URL keys and category paths mapped to Shopify, with the redirect table live at cutover.
Extension review
Your active extensions are listed and each one matched to a Shopify app or a custom build.
Lower operating overhead
No more server sizing, cache tuning or version upgrades — the infrastructure layer moves to the platform.
Magento to Shopify migration in five steps
Audit of the current store
Products, variants, collections, customers, orders and content are counted. What moves and what stays in the archive is agreed in writing.
SEO protection plan
Old addresses are mapped to new Shopify ones. The 301 table is ready before the switch, so ranking pages do not fall into nothing.
Theme, data and integrations
Theme built on Shopify, data imported, payments and shipping connected. The store runs behind a password.
Pre-launch verification
Product counts, prices, stock, shipping rates and a test order are verified. Nothing goes live without your sign-off.
DNS switch and monitoring
DNS cutover, redirects go live, Search Console notified. We watch errors and traffic over the following days.
Magento to Shopify migration: frequently asked questions
My catalogue is large. Is Shopify suitable?
For most catalogues, yes. The questions worth asking are about attribute complexity and B2B requirements rather than raw product count. We review both during inventory and tell you plainly if Shopify is the wrong fit.
What happens to my Magento attributes?
Shopify's option model is simpler than Magento's attribute sets. Some attributes become options, others become metafields, and a few may not carry over. We agree the mapping before importing.
Will my rankings survive?
With a correct 301 map, yes. Magento category paths and URL keys are mapped to Shopify addresses and the redirects go live at cutover. We monitor Search Console for the following weeks.
Do you migrate B2B setups?
Yes. Since April 2026 company profiles, payment terms and up to three B2B catalogues are available on every Shopify plan; customer-specific pricing beyond that needs Plus. We work out which one you need during discovery.
How long does a Magento migration take?
It depends on catalogue size and how much custom work exists. After the inventory stage we give a written timeline — that stage exists precisely so the estimate is not a guess.
