Shopify's plans differ less than their prices suggest. Every plan runs the same storefront, the same checkout and the same app ecosystem; what changes is processing fees, staff seats and a handful of features. That makes the choice mostly arithmetic. Below is the UK price list as published on Shopify's pricing page in October 2026, and how to work out which plan your numbers point to.
The four plans side by side
| Basic | Grow | Advanced | Plus | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly billing | £25 | £65 | £344 | from £1,800 |
| Billed yearly, per month | £19 | £49 | £259 | by contract |
| Online card rate | 2% + 25p | 1.7% + 25p | 1.5% + 25p | 1.3% + 25p |
| In-person card rate | 1.7% | 1.6% | 1.5% | 1.5% |
| Third-party gateway fee | 2% | 1% | 0.6% | 0.2% |
| Additional staff accounts | — | 5 | 15 | Unlimited |
| Inventory locations | 10 | 10 | 10 | 200 |
| B2B catalogues | Up to 3 | Up to 3 | Up to 3 | Unlimited |
Card rates apply to Shopify Payments. If you use a different payment provider, Shopify charges the third-party gateway fee on top of that provider's own fees. Plus is priced per contract, and very high-volume stores pay a revenue-based fee agreed with Shopify. Prices change, so confirm them on Shopify's pricing page before you model anything.
What every plan includes
- The same online store, themes, checkout and unlimited products.
- Shopify Markets for localised selling, local domains, and duties and import tax estimates at checkout.
- Gift cards and abandoned checkout recovery.
- 200+ real-time reports plus custom analytics.
- B2B: company profiles, payment terms, volume pricing and up to three B2B catalogues — on every plan since April 2026.
- Collaborator accounts, so an agency or developer can work in the store without taking a staff seat.
Basic: everything customers see, for one person
Basic has no additional staff accounts: the owner logs in, and outside help — an agency, a developer, a bookkeeper — comes in through collaborator accounts. Nothing on the storefront or in the checkout is held back, so for a founder-run store the only real question is whether the lower fees on Grow would already save money.
Grow: when the card rate pays for itself
Grow costs £40 a month more than Basic on monthly billing and lowers the online card rate by 0.3 percentage points; the 25p fixed fee is the same on both. £40 divided by 0.3% puts the break-even at about £13,300 a month in online card sales. Compare the yearly-billed prices instead and the difference is £30, so the break-even falls to £10,000 a month. Above that, Grow is cheaper than Basic before you count the five staff accounts.
If you use a third-party payment provider rather than Shopify Payments, the maths moves much faster. The Shopify transaction fee falls from 2% to 1%, so Grow pays for itself at around £4,000 a month in sales.
Advanced: shipping rates and a bigger team
Advanced costs £279 a month more than Grow on monthly billing and saves another 0.2 percentage points on online card payments. On fees alone that breaks even at around £140,000 a month in card sales, or about £105,000 on yearly billing. Most stores that move earlier do it for features: 15 staff accounts and live third-party carrier rates at checkout.
Plus: priced by contract, bought for capabilities
Plus starts at £1,800 a month on Shopify's UK pricing page. The 0.2-point card saving over Advanced only covers the price difference at roughly £730,000 a month in card sales, so few merchants move for fees. They move for capabilities: checkout customisation with custom Shopify Functions, unlimited B2B catalogues assigned directly to companies, up to 200 inventory locations, unlimited staff, higher API limits and priority 24/7 phone support. Our guide on whether Plus is worth it covers that decision in detail.
How to choose in five minutes
- Average your online card sales through Shopify Payments over the last three months.
- Multiply by the rate difference to the next plan: 0.3 points from Basic to Grow, 0.2 from Grow to Advanced.
- Compare that saving with the difference in plan fee, using the billing period you would actually choose.
- Add any feature you genuinely need: staff seats, live carrier rates, B2B beyond three catalogues.
- If neither the saving nor a feature justifies the step, stay where you are and check again next quarter.
Costs that are not on the pricing page
- Apps: reviews, email, subscriptions and consent tools often cost more per month than the Basic plan itself.
- Themes: Shopify's own themes are free; premium themes are a one-off purchase.
- International cards and currency conversion, which carry additional percentage fees on Shopify Payments — check the current rates in your admin.
- Setup: your own time, or a partner's, to configure tax, shipping, legal pages and tracking properly.
